NCC Prepares for Installation Phase of New North Zealand Super Hospital

Construction of the highly anticipated New North Zealand Hospital in Denmark has reached a major milestone, with contractors NCC announcing that the site is now ready for the installation phase. The project, which has been ongoing for three years, has required close collaboration between NCC and the Capital Region of Denmark to reach this point.

Plumbing, Ventilation, and Electricity Systems to be Installed

The installation phase, scheduled to begin in Q1 of 2023, will involve the installation of plumbing, ventilation, and electricity systems throughout the facility. This will include cold and hot water supply systems, water for technical equipment and technical laboratories, heating and cooling for premises and devices, sanitation and fittings, sewage, cooling and heating systems, various gases for clinical use (including oxygen), and sprinkler systems.

Ventilation will be provided in hospital wards, offices, auditoriums, and other common rooms, as well as laboratories and adjacent technical equipment, operating theaters, and clean rooms. The electricity system will include all power supply, including a high-voltage system, emergency power system, distribution switchboard, all cabling, lighting fittings, and communication system.

NCC Building Nordics Head Excited for Next Stage

Catarina Molén-Runnäs, Head of NCC Building Nordics, expressed excitement at the next stage of the project. “Hospitals are technically complex projects by nature and contain many installations, which places great demands on our ability to plan, coordinate and work methodically throughout the process,” she said. “We’ve had a close and trusting collaboration with our client, the Capital Region of Denmark, for more than three years and are now looking forward to getting started on the hospital’s installations.”

Order Value of SEK 1.7 Billion

The project will have an order value of approximately SEK 1.7 billion, which will be registered in the first quarter of 2023 in the NCC Building Nordics business area. The installation work is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
